The company is doubling the square footage of its 2- to 8-degrees Celsius cooler, making for a threefold increase in biologic storage capacity by the end of 2014. The Reno facility is U.S. Food and Drug Administration-registered and cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) compliant. In addition to the cooler expansion, MD Logistics recently extended its cold-chain services to accommodate -20 degree Celsius shipping and storage. The move involved the procurement of additional equipment, as well as training personnel on the details of extreme cold-chain operations and the biologic needs of sensitive biopharmaceuticals, the company said. MD Logistics specializes in life sciences and pharmaceuticals, retail and consumer goods, and transportation services.
