Panjiva, a supplier of data on global trade and overseas suppliers, has entered into a strategic partnership with Bureau Veritas, a source of conformity-assessment and certification services. The deal combines Bureau Veritas' Factory Assessments with Panjiva's supplier-intelligence platform. The latter incorporates public and proprietary sources of independent information on more than 750,000 suppliers and manufacturers from 190 countries, the sum of the U.S. supply base. By offering easy access to independently verified Factory Assessments from Bureau Veritas, Panjiva can give buyers a higher level of confidence when selecting a supplier, the company said. A Factory Assessment provides detailed information about systems in place to help ensure safe and legal products of acceptable quality. Elements include quality-management systems, good manufacturing practices (GMPs), process control and product control. In addition, Panjiva users have access to data on suppliers' financial health, potential competitive conflicts and other factors. Bureau Veritas has some 50,000 employees in 930 offices and 330 laboratories in 140 countries.
