ALK Technologies Inc. has introduced RouteSync, a tool for synchronizing PC-MILER Routes planned in the back office with CoPilot Truck, the vendor's truck-specific GPS navigation system. RouteSync was designed for motor carriers, private fleets and owner-operators desiring in-vehicle consistency with PC-MILER routing and mileage for dispatch, billing, driver payroll, fuel tax reporting, rating, costing and other management applications. RouteSync allows dispatchers to send PC-MILER-optimized routes directly to CoPilot Truck running on various mobile devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops and netbooks. Users can define stop orders, trip options, custom routing preferences and vehicle dimensions. They can select one of three levels of strictness for CoPilot Truck to navigate back to the planned PC-MILER route. Based on the level chosen, RouteSync compares actual driver locations to prescribed routes, with out-of-route alerts reported in real time via e-mail to dispatchers or fleet managers.
