Xata Corp., a provider of software for truck fleet optimization, has developed ComplianceConnect. The new product allows fleets to integrate existing driver-productivity applications with Xata Turnpike, the vendor's electronic onboard recorder (EOBR) tool. It features a two-way mobile application programming interface, which enables Xata Turnpike to run alongside existing productivity apps. In the process, drivers and fleet managers get a single interface which manages hours of service, driver vehicle inspection reports, speed, idle time, hard braking, routes and GPS, arrival and departure times, and engine fault codes. According to Xata, fleets can maximize their existing investment while taking advantage of a low-cost means of complying with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, including the current released technical requirements for 395.16. Due to take effect in mid-2012, the directive mandates EOBRs for all carriers with poor hours-of-service compliance. Xata's products also include XataNet, a tool for helping private and for-hire fleets to achieve continuous improvement.
