Xata Corp. and McLeod Software have jointly initiated development projects to help truck fleets comply with hours-of-service (HOS) regulations, while more effectively collecting, integrating, sorting, sharing and viewing driver and vehicle data. The HOS project involves the integration of XataNet and Xata Turnpike's hours-of-service applications with McLeod's LoadMaster dispatch software. Fleets can get a real-time view of how many hours a driver has available for current and future driver cycles. A driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIR) project is designed to help fleets proactively manage inspections and better utilize maintenance data, through the integration of XataNet's DVIR functionality with McLeod's third-party vehicle maintenance modules provided by Cetaris and SquareRigger. The combination will include automatic notification of a vehicle's mechanical problems, so that proactive maintenance can be scheduled before those issues become more expensive to fix. According to the partners, the integration will also increase line-of-sight to tractors and trailers both in and out of service. Xata provides automated fleet-management software to the trucking industry. McLeod is a vendor of transportation, brokerage and document-management systems, also for truckers.
