CaroTrans International, a non-vessel operating common carrier and ocean freight consolidator, has inaugurated a direct, all-water, less-than-containerload (LCL) service from Shanghai to Boston. The company said the new service was created in response to requests from importers for a fast service to Boston that bypasses the congested New York metropolitan area. CaroTrans is offering a 32-day transit from Shanghai to Boston. It also offers weekly LCL service from Shanghai to Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, South Africa and South America. CaroTrans said it is experiencing "significant" market growth in China; it plans soon to open a seventh China office, to be located in Qingdao. Other Chinese ports served by the NVO include Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Xingang and Ningbo.
