ALK Technologies has released new versions of two of its distance and routing databases for truckers. In conjunction with the U.S. Department of Defense, the company has issued version 25.1 of the Defense Table of Official Distances (DTOD), the official standard of vehicular land distances for all DOD household goods and freight movements. All motor carriers and logistics companies handling freight or personal property shipments for the DOT's Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) must use the most recent version of DTOD to generate distances for payment and audit purposes. In addition, ALK has released version 25.1 of its PC-Miler/Worldwide software for mileage and mapping. The tool generates routes, distances, transit times, maps and driving directions throughout the North American interstate highway network. It also covers regions of Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania and South America. In all, ALK provides coverage in 224 countries with digital maps from the best available sources, according to the company. The PC-Miler/Worldwide database has been updated with thousands of additional highway and road miles, including more than 109,000 new miles of roadway in Europe, 7,500 new road miles and 220,000 truck-restriction enhancements in North America. City and postal code coverage has been updated and consolidated in more than 140 countries.
