UPS has agreed to purchase the Italy-based Pieffe Group, a provider of logistics services to pharmaceutical companies. According to UPS, the family-owned business has more than 35 years' experience offering storage, distribution and cold-chain services to the world's leading pharmaceutical brands. The acquisition includes two healthcare distribution facilities in Milan and Rome. Together they offer nearly 753,500 square feet of space, including 12 cold storage areas, with options for further expansion. UPS's global healthcare distribution network totals more than 4 million square feet. Announcement of the Pieffe Group acquisition follows the opening by UPS of five new dedicated facilities this year in North and South America, Europe and Asia.
