Checkpoint Systems, Inc. has introduced a line of Enhanced Performing (EP) electronic article surveillance (EAS) labels, based on radio frequency technology. Smaller and thinner than traditional EAS labels, the EP versions are more easily integrated into retailers' source-tagging programs, the vendor said. Moreover, when affixed by personnel at the store level, the labels can be placed on smaller products and cover less packaging than previous labels. Checkpoint specializes in identification, tracking, security and merchandising technology for the retail industry supply chain. The EP labels also offer increased detection capabilities, claimed Checkpoint, resulting in less product lost to theft. The smaller label format is compatible with Checkpoint's new Meto Proline XXL RF hand labeling guns, which allow retailers to print pricing and promotional information directly on the RF labels themselves, in a single process.
