Ryder System Inc. has launched Ryder Locator, a free smartphone application which allows customers to locate the nearest Ryder truck rental, maintenance or fueling location in the U.S. and Canada. Customers can quickly search for and display nearby Ryder facilities, and learn about specific services offered at each one. In another company announcement, Ryder has developed version 3.0 of RydeSmart, its onboard telematics system. RydeSmart is a global positioning system (GPS) fleet location, tracking and vehicle performance-management system offered to the company's full-service lease customers. It communicates wirelessly via a dedicated and secure connection to a Web-based application which can be accessed by fleet, safety and driver managers. The tool has been enhanced to provide greater usability and vehicle intelligence to fleet management end users. It is delivered under a software-as-a-service model.
