Lufthansa Cargo will utilize MD-11 freighters in the service. Other additions to the schedule, made possible by the expansion of Lufthansa passenger services, are Shenyang in northeastern China, and Qingdao (Tsingtao) in Shandong province. Flights to Detroit will be increased to twice weekly. The same frequency will be available in South America, to the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo, again through MD-11 flights. The summer timetable also includes the return of flights to Calcutta, which were discontinued in recent months. The city will once more be served through weekly direct flights. Lufthansa Cargo's summer timetable is offering space on approximately 9,000 flights weekly, serving 51 destinations.
