MSC.Software Corp. has released updates to its core software suite for computer-aided engineering (CAE). Enhancements have been made to the vendor's Adams, Nastran, Patran, Marc and Dytran applications, all part of the Engineering Products Suite. Adams is intended to improve the design and performance of complex systems such as vehicles, aircraft and biological systems. Engineers can determine the performance of proposed designs, from initial concept to fully detailed systems. Nastran offers finite element-based structural analysis for the aerospace and automotive industries. New capabilities include advances in the solver performance; noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), and acoustics. Patran is a user environment for creating finite element models. Marc is a finite element solver specializing in non-linear analysis. Dytran is used to simulate the behavior of moving or accelerating structures, to examine what might cause a product to fail. Enhancements to the application help to reduce solution time for many fluid-structural interaction problems, the vendor said.
