Currently, SOTI said, Android allows for limited management and security application programming interfaces (APIs) for MDM vendors. As a result, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) need to create their own APIs so that MDM vendors can build tools for managing their devices. The result is wide disparity in functionality among degrees and forms. SOTI's new technology, known as MobiControl MDM, provides consistent management for all Android devices. It includes a suite of help-desk tools with real-time remote control, a secure content locker, silent installation of applications and updates, policies for controlling access to corporate e-mail, device lockdown and kiosk functionality, location-based automatic management (geofencing), remote wipe of corporate data or full device wipe, an App Store and self-service management portal. SOTI's products service retail, manufacturing, healthcare, government, logistics and hospitality, among other industries.
