The transaction is expected to close by the end of this year. APL Logistics said it will allow the company to expand its logistics-hub management and local distribution capabilities in support of China's growing domestic economy. APLL-Zhiqin provides services in hub management, domestic land transportation, supply-chain technology, customs brokerage, import and export management and supply-chain consulting. Currently, the joint venture has nearly 1,000 employees, who manage hub facilities in more than 20 locations. The company's transportation and distribution network covers a total of more than 2,000 locations in China. Following completion of the acquisition, APL Logistics will combine with APLL-Zhiqin to offer a service network of 78 offices and facilities across China. APL Logistics is a unit of Singapore's Neptune Orient Lines.
