The company has opened three new facilities in Hangzhou and Shanghai, China, and Sydney, Australia. UPS now has 36 dedicated healthcare distribution facilities around the world, totaling more than half a million square meters of space. Its Singapore operation opened in 2011, serving multinational and regional manufacturers. The newest facilities offer nearly 35,000 square meters of additional distribution space that was designed to meet the needs of pharmaceutical, biotech and medical-device companies. Opened in the third quarter of this year, the Hangzhou operation covers 22,000 square meters, aimed at serving the growing number of pharmaceutical companies locating their manufacturing in China. The Shanghai center, with 7,575 square meters, targets the medical-device market. Sydney offers 5,388 square meters of distribution space.
