U.S. Xpress offers transportation services throughout North America. It has announced its intention to acquire a 90-percent interest in Xpress Internacional, which operates a terminal network in major Mexican cities. The deal, expanding on a joint venture created five years ago, allows U.S. Xpress to provide door-to-door service between the two countries. In addition, U.S. Xpress has formed a new joint venture with Monterrey-based Logisti-K, a provider of cross-border and Mexican logistics services since 2002. The deal expands U.S. Xpress offerings in Mexico to include warehousing and distribution (including cross-dock, door-to-door and end-to-end services), inventory management, order fulfillment, domestic and international freight management and freight-forwarding services via full truckload, less-than-truckload, intermodal, ocean and air. U.S. Xpress said the deals are an outgrowth of growing customer interest across Asia, Europe, North and South America in shipping to and from Mexico. The Mexican expansion comes on the heels of U.S. Xpress's new cross-border partnership with Canada's Maritime Ontario.
