Intermec Inc., a vendor of technology for the tracking and management of supply-chain assets, has entered into an aftermarket reselling agreement with Nacco Materials Handling Group, Inc. The deal involves the sale of vehicle mount computers, handheld barcode scanners and radio frequency identification (RFID) technology equipment for Nacco's Hyster and Yale-brand lift trucks. ADC and RFID-enabled forklifts can be ordered directly from Hyster or Yale dealers with Intermec equipment installed. Jonathan Dawley, manager of business development with Nacco, estimates that some 70 percent of warehouse forklifts in North American already have mobile computing or data-collection equipment installed. Intermec claims more than 250,000 vehicle installations and 17,000 warehouse installations to date. Hyster and Yale are also authorized to resell Intermec Medallion service contracts. Intermec further announced that its passive ultra high-frequency UHF RFID readers are the first RFID hardware to be certified for operation in China by the country's State Radio Regulation Committee. The agency ensures that products sold for use in China meet the country's standards for radio-frequency devices. Intermec hardware approved for use in China includes the IV7 vehicle-mount RFID reader, the IF4 and IF30 fixed readers, and the IP4 portable model.
