The update, version 27, includes a redesigned graphical user interface and tools for complying with new hours-of-service (HOS) rules. The interface features a ribbon-style design with newly crafted descriptive icons, a more accessible layout for smoother transition between tasks, and windows that can be floated outside the PC-MILER application to accommodate workspace needs. The new HOS compliance tools were designed to ensure that routes and estimated times of arrival accurately reflect a driver's available hours. Based on remaining hours, the application calculates when a driver needs to break, in addition to indicating the designated breaks in a detailed driving-directions report, and automatically updating on-duty hours. PC-MILER's RouteSync function ensures operational consistency between dispatched and actual routes. The application interfaces with all leading transportation, logistics and fleet-management systems, ALK said.
