The British scheme will see 13 new opportunities for young people available via Schenker UK's National Apprenticeship Programme to start a career within the logistics industry. The new group will be based in a variety of locations up and down the UK, including five vacancies at Heathrow, three at Basildon and one each at Felixstowe and Nuneaton. This year for the first time, there will also be three opportunities in the warehouse environment at Heathrow. They all will undertake a two-year apprenticeship with the global logistics provider.
At the conclusion of the programme it is hoped that the apprentices will have completed extensive training and gained a full appreciation of the DB Schenker organization.
UK managing director Helgi Ingolfsson, said, "Our apprentice programme is a significant way to get young people into the logistics business, which is crucial to long-term development of our company. With the introduction of the warehouse positions, this should create even more employment opportunities for those taking part."
