C.H. Robinson Worldwide has opened a new office in Singapore. The operation will provide air and sea transportation, warehousing, distribution, consolidation and other value-added services for the Southeast Asia region. It will draw on C.H. Robinson's global network of offices. Gary Tan has been named general manager of the CHRW-Singapore office, which is located at Changi Airport. Tan has more than 25 years' experience in freight forwarding and transportation. He said the company intends to utilize Singapore's transport infrastructure and facilities as a cargo hub. Air-to-air and air-to-sea transshipment within the free trade zone can be completed within hours, while sea-to-air transshipment can be accomplished in less than 18 hours, with a single permit required for all modes of transportation, Tan said. C.H. Robinson has 214 offices in North America, Europe, Asia and South America.
