Scheduled to be in revenue service by early spring of 2014, the company is being launched by three transportation and intermodal industry veterans: Thomas L. Finkbiner, chief executive officer; Theodore Prince, chief operating officer and C. Thomas Shurstad, chief commercial officer. Tiger Infrastructure Partners, a middle-market private equity fund, is providing funding for the business and equipment orders. The venture will offer 52-week contracts that bundle seasonal peaks and calls on capacity, plus pay incentives on all shipments. Finkbiner said the industry has had limited alternatives in the area of transcontinental intermodal transport of fresh produce in a manner that is quick, safe and environmentally sustainable.
