DHL has signed a pre-let deal with Manchester Airports Group to move into a 37,308-square-foot site at Airport City South, near Junction Six of the M56.
DHL said the decision to move to the flagship development was in response to a growing demand for British goods overseas.
That is leading to firms based on these shores needing to ship an increasing number of products abroad, particularly to emerging markets like China.
The firm is relocating from its current base in Trafford Park. The DHL center will offer points for the drop-off and collection of goods for delivery overseas.
The pre-let is a shot in the arm to Airport City, the first of its kind in the UK. It sits in the heart of Greater Manchester's Enterprise Zone, meaning companies locating there can benefit from business rate reductions and other perks.
