Netwin’s GTKonnect suite now includes a Conflict Minerals Module, designed to help companies simplify the process of tracing the origin of tantalum, tin, tungsten and gold, to disclose the presence of materials from conflict regions of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and surrounding countries. The new reporting rule, issued by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, applies to all publicly held companies and takes effect on May 31, 2014. The GTKonnect compliance module helps companies to manage country-of-origin inquiries, and conduct additional research in affected regions. Import managers can maintain data on parts suppliers. They can also automate requests for information from vendors, create user-defined questionnaires, perform region-based origin assessments and set alerts and reminders for testing, inquiry and verification, among other things.
