IFS, a vendor of global business software applications, held its annual World Conference in Berlin, Germany last week. At the event, it announced a number of new products. Among them was the launching of IFS Applications 7.5. The latest release features a single code base that adapts to all regulatory and language requirements for key markets, IFS said. Other new features include enhanced tax handling, reporting and inventory management; risk management across multiple projects, allowing companies to identify key danger factors and implement preventive measures; and new functionality for global supply-chain and mixed-mode operations. Version 7.5 keeps track of key performance indicators, such as delivery times across multiple locations. The new IFS product known as Aurora is an application user interface that is intended to boost productivity with the help of an ergonomic design. It will be made available in 2008 as an add-on to IFS Applications 7.5. Another new tool within that suite of software, IFS/Asset Information Integration Manager, will enable engineering contractors to utilize more detailed engineering data in the purchasing process. Complementing IFS's existing Engineering Register, it simplifies the integration of computer-aided design (CAD) systems with IFS Applications. IFS further announced enhancements in support of project industries. Features of IFS Applications for Project-Centric Business include sales contract management, subcontract management, project budgeting and forecasting, and risk management. The tool integrates with Primavera Project Management, an external project-planning module.
