Intalio, Inc. has made generally available version 5.0 of Intalio/BPMS, an open-source business performance management suite. The software supports the BPMN, BPEL 2.0 and BPEL4People set of industry standards for BPM. The new release features a complete rewriting of the BPMN modeler, in order to support the upcoming BPMN 2.0 specification. At the same time, BPEL runtime has been optimized to support more than 100,000 process models and 250m process instances deployed on a single server. The workflow framework has been extended to support the emerging BPEL4People standard. Version 5.0 also provides enhanced support for process simulation, business-rules management and business-activity monitoring, the vendor said. Intalio/BPMS 5.0 is built on top of the Apache ODE BPEL engine, contributed by Intalio and recently promoted as a major project by the Apache Software Foundation, and the Eclipse STP BPMN modeler, which was integrated into the main Eclipse release earlier this year. The release has been integrated with several other commercial open-source offerings as well, including the Alfresco Content Management System, Mule Enterprise Service Bus, Liferay Portal, and OpenLexicon Business Rule Engine.
