PeopleNet, a provider of intelligent onboard communications and fleet-management technology, has launched PeopleNet BLU, a Driver Center display platform built around touch-screen technology and advanced .NET application integration tools. BLU was designed with hardware extensibility, surplus memory and the power to run such advanced applications as text-to-speech, navigation, in-cab video and Web surfing. BLU also supports all current PeopleNet applications, including eDriver Logs, PerformX Engine Connectivity and PACOS Geofencing. BLU features a seven-inch, full-color display. Touch-screen capability enables graphic menus and the interactive equivalent of a desktop mouse. BLU also supports any USB-enabled keyboard for driver messaging ease of use. In a related announcement, PeopleNet is partnering with Instructional Technologies, Inc. (ITI) to provide driver-training technology to customers via the BLU platform. ITI's Pro-Tread program provides driver training in the cab, in response to real-time performance data collected from trucks on the road. PeopleNet customers can use the data with the vendor's PerformX application to monitor driver behavior and the health of a truck's engine, drive train and other operational systems.
