The changes were designed to help shippers more efficiently and accurately manage the U.S.-Mexico customs process, the company said. The proprietary system automates and standardizes interactions between shippers, importers and Customs. The result, said Transplace, is improved communications, increased visibility and fewer mistakes when transporting goods across the U.S.-Mexico border. The Customs Portal features multimodal capability to clear air, ocean and land shipments through multiple ports of entry. It comprehends inbound shipments at the purchase order or advance shipping notice level, and automates the data input of each product line. In the process, it eliminates the need for manual data entry. The system also features a centralized parts database for multi-port operations, allowing importers to add technical and use specifications for each part number.
