Shipco Transport, a non-vessel operating common carrier, has developed a guaranteed, expedited less-than-containerload (LCL) service into the U.S. The Fast Track service initially will be offered from 15 origin points throughout Asia into the Port of Los Angeles. Further expansion will take place over the next six months. Fast Track will provide priority handling on designated time-sensitive cargo, with optimum transit times from origin to door at destination. Any failure on Shipco's part to meet pre-designated transit times under the Fast Track program will result in a percentage refund of the total amount billed. Advantages available to customers include late gates at origin and priority handling at the Port of Los Angeles, Shipco said. In addition, Fast Track shipments will receive reduced handling compared with traditional inland points intermodal (IPI) moves, the company claimed. Fast Track offers Web-based tracking from origin to delivery. Single-invoice pricing consists of ocean freight and accessorial fees, combined with inland rates based on a seven-zone scale within the U.S.
