Version 29 includes a new HOS (Hours of Service) Manager, which factors Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration HOS-regulated breaks directly into the route. The breaks are incorporated during trip planning, allowing transportation carriers to understand actual travel times and distances traveled, ALK said. When planning a route, dispatchers can identify whether a driver will be in violation of the HOS rules, as well as identify an appropriate stop to break if needed. They can also view a list of amenities located at a stop, to assist in choosing the best break location. PC-MILER 29 includes the ability to search and display points of interest along a route. Dispatchers can choose the most cost-effective fuel stop when planning a route using integrated, nationwide live fuel pricing from Pilot and Flying J. Fuel prices are updated every 30 minutes. The software gives users the choice of avoiding ferries as well as roads above a specified elevation.
