Syspro, a vendor of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for mid-market manufacturers, has delivered the second of three modules offering advanced inventory optimization capability to users. The tool is designed to improve business forecasting and promote Lean manufacturing principles, the vendor said. Called Syspro Families and Groupings, the new module collects common inventory stock codes into categories, allowing users more accurately to forecast business inventory needs. Syspro's software is aimed at mid-sized manufacturing companies in the food, electronics, machinery and equipment, and medical device sectors. At the same time, Syspro said, the tool can be customized to meet the needs of any manufacturing environment where a high number of stock codes or stock-keeping units impacts the forecast of individual stock items. The Syspro Inventory Optimization suite is composed of the new Families and Groupings module, released in 2006, and the soon-to-be-released Inventory Optimizer module. Families and Groupings generates a demand-history view as well as a Pareto analysis of SKU levels.
