The entity will launch carrier-neutral parcel boxes for the home delivery market in the summer of 2016. According to the partners, the ParcelLock system entails a high level of security and resiliency. Service providers can only use the parcel box based on individual and temporary numerical codes, similar to those used in online banking. Burg-Wächter, a producer of post boxes, safes and security systems, will be the first manufacturer to offer boxes and parcel bags with the ParcelLock system. Based in Hamburg, Germany, Hermes provides a range of international logistics services to the retail industry.
