Ronny Shmoel and Albert Liniado, New York-based retail veterans, are reported to have acquired the brand, domain and associated trademarks and are hatching a plan to create a multichannel retailer. The duo purchased the assets from Systemax, which had attempted to operate Circuit City as an online-only sister site for TigerDirect.
There will be retail stores, online sales, licensed kiosks, mobile shops and franchise opportunities. The new Circuit City will sell electronics, both branded and private label. There will be a customer loyalty program and store brand credit card.
The goal is to open the first Circuit City store in June, likely in the Dallas market. The roughly 2,000- to 4,000-sq.-ft. showroom will feature products aimed at millennial shoppers, including mobile devices, gaming, headphones, fitness products and 3D printers.
