The tool allows shippers to compare freight rates from top-rated carriers and book shipments online for a flat-rate fee, regardless of volume. ShipX said it is targeting its online exchange to small businesses that ship less frequently and who have had to rely on limited resources or middlemen to handle their shipping needs. Carriers, for their part, can work directly with shippers, instead of through third-party logistics companies, and can dynamically price their freight based on supply and demand in order to fill empty trucks. Credit card payments allow carriers to receive funds 48 hours after booking.
