There's a vigorous debate taking place today over why the U.S. has lost between 3 and 5 million manufacturing jobs since 1979. The Reshoring Initiative has no doubts about the culprit, however: it's the result of offshoring production to cheaper countries. Now the group is determined to bring those jobs back. On this episode, we get a report on the initiative's efforts from founder and president Harry Moser. He returns to the podcast to chart the progress of reshoring over the last couple of years. He details efforts by the new organization known as Return One Million Jobs, which is seeking $20m in funding to make the economic case for manufacturing in the U.S. Moser also discusses what additional measures are required in the political and economic spheres to attract several million more jobs to American shores. And he engages in some frank talk about the skills gap that threatens to frustrate those efforts. Hosted by Bob Bowman, Managing Editor of SupplyChainBrain.
