SAP AG has unveiled the upcoming new release of its supply-chain-management software. Developed in collaboration with existing SAP customers, the application will include enhanced functionality for supply-network collaboration, extended warehouse-management capabilities, and improved planning tools. The product will ensure tighter links between business partners to increase visibility, enhanced capabilities for outsourced manufacturing and improved network inventories, the ability of suppliers to create Web-based invoices, enhanced vendor-managed inventory tools, improved workforce planning, and enhancements to advanced planning and optimization. Another new feature, capacity reservations, will help shorten delivery times to customers. The latest release of SAP Supply Chain Management will be available in mid-2008. SAP has also announced availability of the third enhancement package for its enterprise resource planning application, SAP ERP. The free add-on allows existing customers to access new software features via a simple download. In yet another related announcement, SAP has launched a "fast-start" program for its SAP Business-All-in-One applications. The program targets mid-sized companies in the manufacturing, services and trade industries. It supplies pre-configured, industry-specific processes to streamline and gain visibility into customers' core business operations.
