Mikoh Corp.'s new Smart&Secure Transport service is designed to manage assets shipped through government transport and supply-chain applications. The government market entails a high degree of risk, with assets vulnerable to tampering, counterfeiting and fraud. As a result, many government entities require radio frequency identification (RFID) tags to track and trace shipped items. Smart&Secure Transport creates a tamper-evident seal which disables RFID functionality if tampering occurs. If the RFID tag is functioning, the asset has not been compromised. A more advanced version of the technology alerts an RFID reader that the tag has been compromised without disabling RFID functionality, allowing for the continuous retrieval of data stored in the tag. Mikoh's SecureContainer is a reusable unit with disposable plastic inserts, which slide into the container doors, securing all contents with a single Smart&Secure RFID tag. Because the seal only makes contact with the disposable plastic inserts, no cleanup is needed before reuse, Mikoh said.
