Axeda Corp. has developed Axeda On-Demand, to support manufacturers providing remote service to their customers. The application is being offered under a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model. According to the vendor, it provides companies with faster and more affordable access to Axeda's remote-service software, known as ServiceLink. Axeda On-Demand offers pay-as-you-go, subscription-based pricing; graphical user interface tools and out-of-the-box drivers to simplify product connection; automatic upgrades to the latest Axeda ServiceLink software releases; round-the-clock monitoring of application and infrastructure; and a Tier IV, SAS 70 hosting center to ensure the security of data. Users can connect to Axeda On-Demand via a simple Web browser. In a related development, Axeda has launched a remote-service blog, offering information and commentary on machine-to-machine technology, aftermarket service and the latest industry news. Bloggers include Axeda co-founders Dale Calder, Jim Hansen and Rich MacKeen.
