Axeda Corp. and MCA Solutions have come together to offer a service in support of aftermarket spare-parts management. Axeda is a provider of on-demand remote-service software. MCA specializes in applications for service-parts planning and optimization for manufacturers across multiple industries. The deal will allow customers to use intelligent product data to streamline spare-parts management. The Axeda ServiceLink application provides real-time operating and equipment configuration data, enhancing MCA's Service Planning and Optimization (SPO) software. As a result, the companies said, manufacturers can proactively forecast part failures and replacement requirements. Both vendors are offering their software in an on-demand mode, boosting time to market without necessitating the costs involved in setting up a data center. Alliances with Oracle Corp. and SAP AG extend functionality into enterprise-type applications.
