Blue Vector Systems has introduced the Blue Vector Serialization Station. Available in several form factors, it supports the scanning of serial numbers of pallets, cases, totes and items throughout the pharmaceutical supply chain. The station automatically handles the transmission of the status of each item to central pedigree systems and outside billing agencies, Blue Vector said. It is available in form factors suitable for the needs of manufacturers, distributors and retailers, including tabletop stations for manual packaging and inspection, conveyor-mounted for manufacturing and distribution, mobile carts for situations requiring mobility and flexibility, and small-footprint stations for local pharmacies. Operations supported by the station include aggregation of items into cases, totes, pallets, orders and shipments; triggering creation of the initial pedigree; verification of the pedigree and completeness of incoming items; quarantine or special handling of items; and updating the pedigree of items being shipped, while ensuring 100-percent shipping accuracy. According to Blue Vector, the station supports any combination of commonly used serialization technologies, including linear barcodes, two-dimensional barcodes, and radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, both UHF and HF types.
