Exostar, creator of an internet-based collaboration hub for the aerospace and defense industry, has released ForumPass4. The latest version of the software allows for the sharing of information, both internally and with partners, suppliers, customers and others. Launch of the product follows extensive beta-testing and field trials involving more than 5,700 users, Exostar said. ForumPass has been redesigned to encapsulate Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, which is rapidly becoming the de facto standard for collaboration, according to the vendor. ForumPass4 offers controlled access through single sign-on. Users log in by username and password, digital certificate, medium level of assurance digital certificate, or restricted group attributes. Additional security is available through end-to-end data encryption and the establishment of sensitive or restricted sites. A "QuickStart" package allows for rapid creation of an optimized operating environment, including setting up groups, configuring libraries and fine-tuning calendar functionality. Pre-built work-templates for reviews, approvals, feedback collection and notifications capture allow the user to automate best practices for key business processes. In addition, a "MyWorkspace" feature displays in a single location meetings, tasks, alerts, discussions and other information across all relevant projects. ForumPass4 is delivered in a hosted, software-as-a-service model.
