Ilog has made available version 2.0 of Ilog Transportation Analyst, the company's transportation-planning software. Part of the LogicTools suite of supply-chain applications, Transportation Analyst allows companies quickly to analyze multiple strategies for delivering products and utilizing transportation assets. They can analyze their transportation-network strategies across several dimensions, and compare "what-if" scenarios. In addition, Ilog said, the application helps companies to analyze their carbon-emission levels, by enabling multiple scenarios for realizing green supply chains. Transportation Analyst 2.0 is aimed at supply-chain analysts, consultants and planners in the retail, consumer packaged goods, and third-party logistics sectors. Users can ask questions about optimal fleet sizing, dedicated routes, mode selection, hub use and delivery frequency. They can model realistic transportation environments, such as multiple capacity measures on vehicles; pickup and delivery windows; rest requirements for drivers; forward, reverse and cross shipments; availability calendars for sites, and multiple transportation modes. The new version of Transportation Analyst includes the capability to integrate with Excel, Gantt charts, and scenario-comparison reports. It complements Ilog's LogicNet Plus, the vendor's network-design and planning tool, and Inventory Analyst, its inventory-optimization system.
