CargoSmart Limited, a vendor of logistics software provided in a hosted model, has made available a new application, Shipment Folder. It helps users to manage documentation workflow. Shippers, consignees and logistics service providers can streamline their processes and better comply with international trade regulations, according to the company. Shipment Folder offers centralized, online access to any shipment-related document, such as packing lists, shipping orders, commercial invoices, purchase orders and security filings. Users can electronically store and exchange documents among shipping parties. The application is built on a service-oriented architecture (SOA), allowing CargoSmart to deliver customized features on the internet in a cloud-computing environment. Customers can monitor and automate their document workflow by setting parameters for when to expect documents and updates from multiple parties. In the process, they can focus on exceptions to workflow, share documents more efficiently throughout the supply chain and minimize costs related to the use of couriers and hard-copy documentation, CargoSmart said. In addition, it said, the rules and assignments features of Shipment Folder can help importers to comply with a variety of trade regulations, including the recently published U.S. Customs & Border Protection "10+2" rule on importer security filings.
