Axxom Software AG is selling a new version of its ORion-PIR Workforce Logistics software. The application, intended for workforce and production planning in logistics and distribution centers, enables users to design detailed plans of workforce demand and assignment in various areas of the facility. It determines optimal labor requirements, incorporating basic movements such as turning and walking. By connecting manual operations with order volumes, the total labor requirements for a planning period can be defined in detail, Axxom said. All routes between picking areas and aisles, as well as picking movements into different bin locations, can be modeled with standard time components. Picking times and labor requirements are calculated dynamically, depending on an item's position in the warehouse. The system then assigns the optimal number of available staff to individual working areas. The tool also features strategic budget and capacity planning. Workforce bottlenecks and overcapacity can be avoided through the planning and optimal deployment of human resources, according to Axxom.
