RFIDTraxx LLC has introduced a new software application for the tracking of documents, under the name DocStaxx. The tool draws on the architecture of Microsoft SQL Server as well as Magellan Technology's Phase Jitter Modulation (PJM) radio frequency identification (RFID) reader. According to the vendor, the product is ideal for businesses where the retention of paper documents is essential, such as law offices, mortgage companies, insurance companies, banks, hospitals and medical offices. The Web-based software allows anyone with appropriate permissions to interrogate the system, either through an internal network or via the internet. The use of SQL Server allows for easy integration with existing systems. Magellan's PJM high-frequency RFID technology, known as StackTag, provides the ability to communicate with RFID tags even when they are stacked without separation. The attribute enables the reliable tracking of original documents, including those of a single page, on desks, in folders, on shelves or in archive boxes, the vendor said. DocStaxx provides a migration path for companies to implement the system on a small scale, then expand its as their needs grow.
