Workload Planner is the name of a new application from RedPrairie Corp., a vendor of supply-chain execution and optimization software. Workload Planner is part of RedPrairie's Workforce Management suite. The update will allow users to analyze and manage workloads based on individual labor standards, by task and by store. In the past, the vendor said, store operations planners lacked the ability to calculate the impact of various labor options from a "bottom-up" perspective. Workload Planner lets users optimize the return on labor for each store by calculating the actual effort required to complete each project. The system provides what-if scenario analyses on project timing, content, priority and phasing. Companies can use the application to phase and prioritize projects over time, while comparing demand for labor according to capacity by store and by week. As a result, RedPrairie claimed, sales associates get more time on the sales floor with customers, through the optimization of process planning across each retail organization's supply chain.
