Savi Technology has enhanced its SmartChain asset-management software with I-GUIDES, an application which allows the U.S. Department of Defense and its suppliers to track and manage inventory throughout the supply chain. I-GUIDES, which stands for Integrated Global UID Enterprise Solution, will continue to be offered on its own in its present form, to enable compliance with DOD's Item Unique Identification (IUID) Policy. The tool creates a unique ID code which is applied to assets via a two-dimensional barcode. I-GUIDES has been commercially available from Lockheed Martin, of which Savi is a wholly owned subsidiary, since 2006. The technology was recently transferred to Savi. The combined offering can utilize all types of wireless tracking and sensor technologies to manage assets and inventory, monitor asset conditions, audit asset history and determine the need for maintenance or repair. The technology can be purchased through a license or by subscription.
