Amber Road has released Trade Agreements 14.5, the latest version of the company's software for managing free-trade agreements (FTAs). The tool is intended to help users realize cost savings through duty reduction. According to Amber Road, it eliminates much of the manual effort required for administering supplier solicitations, maintaining certificates of origin and qualifying bills of material. A new Web-based portal creates an environment for campaign management, including the organization of solicitations and management of supplier responses. Suppliers can collaborate on the portal to update requests, use workflow tools to clarify responses and generate certificates. Users can maintain supplier certifications by part and product classification for determining the FTA eligibility of finished goods, without the need for rekeying data. Rules of origin for all subscribed trade agreements are "plugged in" to automate the qualification process, and allow companies to qualify a bill of materials for preferential duty status. Trade Agreements is a fully integrated module of Amber Roads' Trade Automation suite, which automates import and export compliance, including product classification and admissibility, trade-party screening, license determination and management, document generation, Customs filing and audit trails.
