Aras, a vendor of open-source product lifecycle management (PLM) software, has made available the latest release of its Aras Innovator suite. The update features online workflows for engineering and manufacturing change orders. A redline revision compares bills of materials, suppliers and documents for visual identification of changes. Other enhancements include updated Web browser screens with a Microsoft look and feel, standard integration with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, and a graphical Web services building in Solution Studio for easier integrations. Previously released capabilities of version 9 include a search center, with ad hoc queries, saved searches, Microsoft Live Search and the GlobalSpec online parts database of more than 180 million parts across 2.3 million part families; single-system, multi-language internationalization for global collaboration; language packs for Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Russian, German and Hebrew; and enablement on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008.
