Kewill plc has developed version 3.0 of its Export Compliance System (ECS). Available under the software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, ECS helps companies to ensure that they are adhering to export regulations. Kewill maintains lists from a number of regulatory and enforcement agencies, including the FBI, Interpol and HM Treasury. When an order is processed through the user's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, a screening request can be triggered to be sent to ECS, which checks the name with which the order has been placed. If a match comes up on any of the lists, an alert is sent to the user, who analyzes the result to confirm whether it is a denied or restricted party. Users also have the option to check the details for themselves. The latest enhancements to ECS include a License Management module, which allows companies to centrally manage export licenses by maintaining running balances of quantities and values against orders and shipments, while proactively alerting a compliance team when licenses are approaching expiration and depletion. Other enhancements are in the areas of export and import license determination, and corporate product compliance.
