Inttra, an electronic-commerce platform for the ocean freight industry, has made available INTTRA-ACT Booking 2.0, the latest version of a Web-based tool that allows shippers and freight forwarders to reserve space on oceangoing vessels. Users can now enter more detailed information, and create complex bookings to send to multiple carriers via the internet, the company says. A streamlined, faster documentation process results in higher data quality and fewer manual functions. In addition, Inttra says, shippers get more timely confirmations from carriers, due to the submission of more detailed electronic bookings. The vendor has added new data elements for addressing complex cargo requirements, including temperature and atmosphere-controlled shipments, out-of-gauge and hazardous goods. Other aspects of version 2.0 include enhanced data validation, a Harmonized Code lookup feature, templates and reuse features which speed the booking process, an "Auto Suggest" feature for port locations and package types, context-sensitive guidance, local language support, and the ability to track all booking activity in one place.
